Restaurant: Subway/Captain D's part 1

Subway: Spicy Italian sandwich with onions, provolone cheese, lettuce, and mustard. Also a broccoli and cheese soup - $6.50
Captain D's: Fish tenders with butterfly shrimp, fried okra, french fries, and hush puppies - $4.99

-Josh-
A sandwich. I placed the fish and and shrimp in between the pepperoni and salami, cut up a
hush puppy and added a few fries in for good measure. I also added a layer of tartar sauce. For the soup I just added some of the okra and cut up some fries and put them in there.

The sandwich, at first, was overpowered by the fish. As time went on the pepperoni and salami became a larger factor and added a nice spiciness that was a decent flavor for what I was eating. The shrimp was unnoticeable. So were the hush puppies, although they did add a nice texture that usually isn't there for a subway sandwich. the mustard was overpowering, and didn't add anything to the experience other than the taste of mustard, plus the guy who made the sandwich really piled it on. The soup was bland and watery from the get go. I was expecting them to have a wider selection, but broccoli and cheese was the only choice. The okra added into it was really good, with the soup acting as more of a dipping sauce then an actual food. The french fries went unnoticed until all the okra was gone, but the saltiness and the way Captain D's fries are fried made a really interesting combination that greatly enhanced the flavor of the soup when cornered. If I did the soup again, I would have gotten the steamed broccoli at Captain D's instead of the okra to add more substance, since there was any broccoli in the soup to begin with.

Judgement: Good Job. I enjoyed the meal. If I had to do it again, I would get less mustard. Also, fewer veggies, since the sandwich was so big I could barely fit it in my mouth. For the soup, it was alright, but some salt and pepper would have gone a long way to enhance the flavor. (I just forgot to grab some packets of them while I was in the restaurant.)

I am not a fan of mustard or tartar sauce, both of which Josh's sandwich had plenty of. Therefore, I only took  a few bites. One thing I will say is that the spices on the pepperoni and salami made the fish really tasty. The Shrimp he put on was overpowered by the meats and sauces, and I couldn't really taste it.
The broccoli cheddar soup with french fries and fried okra was a great idea, but the soup was too bland for it to be best experienced. With better soup I would definitely recommend this combination.

Judgement: Thumbs up on the sandwich. Total thumbs up on the soup if it were from a place that specialized in soup.
