Chillin` with Chili Part 2

Sonic Fried Cheese Sticks - $2.99

I'm a fan of chili with fritos and cheese in it, so I ran with that idea. I cut up the cheese sticks into small chunks and mixed it into the chili. Wendy's chili is chunky and the smooth cheese and buttery crust helped smooth the flavor out. I only put three of the five cheese sticks into the chili due to space constraints, but it could have used all five.

 Judgement: Thumbs up

After trying this, it is the only way I would eat Wendy's chili. I really liked the top half that was full of the cheese sticks. The main downfall is the price.

I thought Kevin's combination was adequate. I'm not a huge fan of Wendy's chili, and the mozzarella sticks were left sitting a bit too long. If the cheese was melty, I think I would have liked it a lot more, but I don't like chewing on cheese. The sweetness of the marinara sauce was a good idea though. Dipping chili is something I'm new to, but the crust from the sticks and the added taste sense improved it a bit.

Chillin` with Chili Part 1

Today we were going to do a side item soiree`, but since both of us decided to get chili based items it became something far more magical. The challenge was to take the side items and combine them with other sides to make them into a delicious meal. So, here are the results.

2 Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito's $2

Chili Cheese & Tot Burrito's: By Josh

I went with something simple, yet delicious. We both got items from Sonic, but I went with the chili cheese tots and combined them with the cheesy bean and rice burrito at Taco Bell. I first had to unwrap the burrito, which was no pick-nick, and dump some tots on there that were covered with chili and special sonic shredded American cheese. The combination was amazing. The burrito by itself is bland with only the cheese sauce to add some more flavor, but the tots added a saltiness and texture that really advanced the experience. The chili was also huge factor. I'll make it no secret that my favorite burrito from Taco Bell was the Chili Cheese Burrito, but it was discontinued. This combo brought me back to days of yore that made me feel a magical essence forming in my mouth. The cheese sauce that Taco Bell uses also added a great taste that's hard to describe, since it wasn't in every bite, but was very enjoyable.

Judgement: Great Job
I would strongly recommend this combination, especially if you're as huge a chili fan as I. The saltiness, the chiliness, and the cheesyness was heavenly.

I only had two bites as Josh was very protective of his treat. The first bite had a chili tater tot in it and was tasty. The second bite did not and tasted the same as the normal CB&R Burrito does. Sonic's chili has no beans, so it doesn't taste over beany, but the meat in the chili didn't shine through (maybe because Sonic doesn't use much meat...).

Judgement: Thumbs  a little up
Add in some more taters for a more tasty combination.

Leftover cookies revisited

Kevin here doing a quick solo post. I was unsatisfied with how the leftover cookies came out last Monday, so I took the leftover batter and made a change to how we laid them out. First I rolled the cookie into a circle and pushed anything that melted into the center of the dough instead of just laying them out. This worked really well with only a tiny bit of leakage, but they looked and tasted better than the first batch. I still say this is a fun experiment to do with friends, and if it turns out badly that's fun too. Just make a few changes, try again, and enjoy the experience.

See! Now, don't those look tasty? Because they were. I'd like to mess around with these and actually make a new well thought flavor as well as letting chaos reign. If anyone out there has any good cookie combining recipes feel free to drop them in the comments. We'd love to try them out.

Super manly movie snack leftover

Like to live dangerously? Take your leftover snacks and mix it all up in some cookie dough to make dangerously delicious (gross) cookies! We took sugar cookie batter and mixed it with the buncha crunch, sweet tarts, gummy bears, and the red vines to make Kamikaze Cookies.

Judgment:

Grrrrr, Gummy Bear no like fire! They melted and maybe so did the sweet tarts... On the up side it lived up to the name of kamikaze cookie. Making the cookies and eating one was fun. Eating two was kinda gross. The buncha crunch was good in the sugar cookies, and the fruity other bits were exotic tasting. Exotic as in not delicious in cookies. Would I recommend making these from left over snacks? Yes, it is a fun way to end a night adventure.

Josh here, and I am washing my hands of this abomination towards God and everything good on this earth.

Super Manly Movie Snacks

Hello everyone, today we have something a little bit different on the table. We decided to make some movie snacks that are the combinations of two great things in order to make your movie parties that much better. The idea is simple and convenient, so without further ado, here come the combo's.

 

Soda Straws: By Josh

The idea for soda straws comes from my childhood. Get some Red Vines, bite off the ends and use them as straws. It doesn't really enhance the flavor, however, it enhances the fun a great deal.

An oldie, but a goodie. We used Sprite for the soda which was fun because the red from the vines made the Sprite red over time and more cherry tasting. Plus, once we finished the soda the red vine was Sprite tasting. A fun idea for children especially, but it will get red gunk on your hands once wet. I would also recommend using glasses a bit shorter    then the red vine so you can drink out of it easily.

Popcrunch: By Kevin
Take popcorn and buncha crunch and combine in a manly fashion for delicious results. I would say 4 little bunchas for 3 pieces of popcorn is a good mouthful Two quick pieces of advice:
1. Get buttered and salted popcorn
2. Combine them in your mouth, not in the bowl. The chocolate will melt and make a mess

 The combination of sweet and salty is something that I have always loved. This concoction harps on my love, and gives rise to what my taste buds have been missing. The sweet chocolate mixed with the savory popcorn was good. The End. Just make sure you get the right popcorn, as some can be rather bland.

Gummy Bear Love: By Kevin
 The original idea was gummy bears and mini runts and put them inside the gummy beats, but we couldn't find any. Instead we got chewy sweet tarts which were a bit too big to put in gummy bears. Trust us, we tried.

The idea was original, just not as good as a combination. The gummy bears and the sweet tarts are both good on their own. The combination of the two doesn't improve on the flavor, but it doesn't hinder the flavor either. The chewy bears mixed with the crunchy tarts did have an interesting texture, however.
